question

so i’m currently 11 weeks postpartum and i’ve been tracking my hormones (we don’t want another baby until im at least 6 months pp). i haven’t gotten my first period yet but i did ovulate last week. does that mean it’s coming or can i have an ovulation cycle without having the full bleeding cycle? im a ftm so this is all new to me. i’m also ebf so i know its possible to not get my period back for a while. i just didn’t know if because i ovulated that meant i would bleed or if it’s possible to just ovulate regularly and not bleed regularly.

A period is to flush an unfertilized egg so your body can try again. If you factually ovulated with no fertilization then you will flush it out. Breast feeding will usually delay your ovulation cycle from starting back up but it’s definitely not guaranteed, and everyone’s hormones are different and so is each baby. I have 6 and it’s been different for me each time. I’ve went a year and a half with no sign of ovulation or a cycle bc I was ebf, and I’ve also had ovulation 2.5 months postpartum even though I was ebf. With all of that said, I’d say if you ovulated, expect a period if you didn’t have sex.

How are you tracking ovulation? Before my daughter. I tracked mine with over the counter ovulation strips. And we just couldn’t get preg. So I got inito tracker. As it’s more in depth. And found out I wasn’t actually ovulation with an egg being released. bc my progesterone wasn’t rising enough.. I was just getting lh hormones spikes. Highly recommend the inito tracker for staying on top of hormone spikes for progesterone and lh, and estrogen. and they have a fb group for trying to conceive and get help reading your charts if u have questions. It better helped me dial in when Lh and progesterone rose to officially ovulate again and conceive. As over the counter strips don’t do a good enough reading to figure out if you’re ovulating with egg release. Ps: u can have a period and not actually have ovulated with egg release. This was news to me.. I hope this helps message me with questions if you like

@Cory inito is what i use!

@Victoria i did have sex and didn’t realize until after that i ovulated. that’s why im a little concerned. my bf told me to take a ovulation test because i seemed extra horny and sure enough

Well, hormones are everything when it comes to this stuff, but strictly addressing what you mentioned- if you know you ovulated- for a fact- then you’ll get a period to flush an unfertilized egg, and well, we know that hat happens if that egg does get fertilized 😜 Good luck, whichever way you want it to be!
