2 friends that are aunties, a real aunt, and a sister-in-law aunt 🙂 one of the friends is a "zia" though.
My siblings are “aunt whoever” my friends that are like my sisters are “auntie whoever”
My SIL is auntie and then a long term friend of my mums who I know very well also is affectionately known by auntie to another family with a little boy and we kinda jumped on the bandwagon, it started more of a joke between a group of us adults but it's stuck now lol
They're all "aunt". I have a sister, a cousin (who I grew up very closely with and who has no siblings so will never be an actual aunt), 2 sister in laws, and 2 best friends who are all called Aunt *name* to my kids
My little boy has my sister in law, my best friend and my aunt (his great aunt) who are all auntie *name*. I don't have any sisters and my brother is unlikely to have a long term partner so that will probably stay all my son's aunties
My friends are 'Auntie' - and I've referred to them as that from the start. I actually announced it to them with a little tag that said 'Auntie ____ I can't wait to meet you'. I then have my sister, SIL (brother's wife, always called her sister as they've been together since I was like 4 haha) and SIL (partner's little sister, she's 8 and not keen on being an Auntie) who are all Aunties obviously. Plus my Auntie Urs and partner's Auntie Kaz will be Auntie as that's what we call them. I'm not sure about partner's other Aunt (uncle's wife) as we've never really referred to her as Aunt/Auntie. I still refer to my next door neighbours (up to about age 7/8) as Uncle George and Auntie Pauline, but they're the only ones - I know I had more 'aunties' growing up that I don't.
My three best friends instantly got an auntie title when I found out I was pregnant and I’m auntie to two of them’s kids and they’ve grown up calling me auntie JoJo. I have my sister who we call auntie Aimee, but she’s not really into kids so she doesn’t interact much with my daughter other than saying hi, waving and giving her a high five when my daughter asks for one.
Only one of my friends gets the Aunty title & that's because she can't have children of her own. She has her own proper niece and nephews, but she's quite happy to be Aunty to my little boy as well. I have 2 sisters but only have anything to do with 1 of them, so he only has 1 real Aunty. I don't think of my sisters in law as his Aunties because they don't make an effort to see him.
