Combined pill

I’ve got the combined pill but haven’t started taking it yet. The doctor said I could take it straight away even though I haven’t had my first period post birth. Obviously they know best but do you think it would be good to allow my body to have that period first before taking it? Or does it not make any difference and should I just take it?

I don’t think it makes any different HOWEVER my thought process was similar to yours and I waited until I had my first natural period. It was more curiosity with me I just wanted to know when my cycle returned to normal lol. Which in my case was 9 weeks PP.

I started it 6 weeks pp, I hadn't had a period at that point but it actually started shortly after so I still had that first one even though I was taking it. I'm 11 weeks now and haven't had one since x

Yes I’m mainly curious too! I’m 9 weeks pp now and feel like it could be starting any day now. Could I also ask if you were told to just continuously take it without having a break? It’s been a long time since I took a pill and I always thought we had to have a break but the doctor said that’s not needed now

Yeah my doctor told me I didn’t need to do the pill free week. It’s a choice. I choose to do it just because I prefer to have a monthly bleed so I think it’s what you prefer. What pill did you get?

@Shannon thank you! I got Gedarel, which one did you get?

Rigevidon and no worries hope your period comes soon! ☺️

With the mini pill you don't have to take a break. I just take it continuously (I was on it prior to ttc and didn't have periods until I stopped). To be honest now I've had our little one I definitely won't be having anymore and I've just turned 40 so not far off being period-free anyway 😂 If I was younger I might be more curious about my cycle x

Hi ladies - can I ask if any of you are breastfeeding? I really wanted this pill but couldn’t have it as I’m breast feeding. @Lisa @Shannon

@Mimi oh boy, I'm going to play the baby brain card here - so sorry ladies I completely misread the post... It's not the combined pill that I take, I'm on the mini pill (which is ok to take while breastfeeding) 🥲

@Mimi no I’m not breastfeeding xx

@Lisa aaah don’t worry! ☺️ xx

@Mimi so you can have the mini pill... They say it shouldn't affect BF but there are stories of women who's supply it's affected. I'm EBF and I've started taking it, I was going to get a mirena IUD inserted again but similar to mini pill many women say it affected supply and obviously getting an IUD out isn't a quick fix so decided against it for now. I would cautiously take the mini pill and see what happens with supply, like all things with women it's not been researched enough to say it won't affect supply. Only thing for sure is that it's safe to take with baby!
