SEPTEMBER BABY END UP BEING JULY BABY

I understand the emotions behind not making it to your due date. I am in the similar situation where my son can be born any day now. I've been hospitalized for the last week and may be here for an additional two to 3 weeks. I encourage you to focus on your recovery and his journey to coming home. Day by day you'll see his progress and watch him take strides as he finishes developing and preparing for the rest of his life with you. One day at a time, dear momma. You both got this! This happened to me. I was due 5th September had her last week at 33+2. My little girl went to NICU and is still on SCBU and thankfully doing really well. But it's scary and tough being away from your baby. I was ok at first but definitely feeling it now. I would say but baring in mind I am only a week ahead of you in this so I don't know if I've done the right thing either, is to trust the professionals , take the opportunity to get rest, spend as much time with your baby as you can. As a nurse who used to work in a NICU, please remember there's no right way to feel because every parent feels differently in this scenario as their baby and circumstances are different. Rest when you're not with baby and when you are with your baby, don't be afraid to ask questions or if you can do anything with your baby such as nappy changes, cuddles etc (whether you can depends on how stable Baby is and your health as well). I'm not sure where you're based but lots of NICUs now have access to a system called V-Create where you can sign up and the nurses can take photos or videos of your baby for you which you can view and download, and can share access with baby's other parent/grandparents. Some parents found this helpful especially once they are discharged and baby is still on the unit.

I was due September 2nd and then induced July 24th because of pre eclampsia. He was 34 weeks + 2. My baby is also in NICU. We just have to stay strong. Spread out our time. Make sure you take time to rest even though it means you miss an hour or 2 of being there. You need to be ok to take care of baby. I’m usually there all day but I make sure when I do go home for dinner I take an hour or 2 to myself to mentally heal. So I can do it again the next day. Just pray and be positive
