When did you start buying things for baby?

Afternoon all, I’m due early Jan and feel like financially I want to start buying things to spread out the cost … but it doesn’t feel right as I’m only just nearly half way there. Feels like I’m jinxing things. What did everyone else do?

I’ve brought pretty much everything and my baby due 8th of January 2025 Do you have anything? I need to get is a few more packs of nappies And dummies and hairbrush set I brought very early though from four weeks

Oh wow I’m due the same day! Ok that makes me feel better. The only thing I’ve bought is a few baby grows today and then I almost felt like should I be doing this, but that makes me feel better!

The only thing I need to get is ^*

i’m nearly 18 weeks and i haven’t bought a damn thing🌚

I’m due 4th January and I’ve only just started buying things. I wanted to wait past 12 weeks to make sure everything was ok first. I don’t have my space for big items yet but have brought a few things, some things I will wait until I know the gender for too. There’s always so much to get it’s really overwhelming

I don’t have anything yet, why don’t you put a bit of money aside each month then if you see something buy it when you are ready as sometimes storing it all can be a pain too. X

I’m due 11 Jan and we’ve started buying things since 12 weeks. We want to spread the cost too. Every time we do our weekly shop we’ve been picking up nappies, wipes and sometimes bath stuff/lotions. It helps us also see how the baby stuff will fit into our weekly budget 😄

I’ve only just started and I’m nearly 35 weeks!

I'm due 4th January and have only bought 1 girl and 1 boy outfit. This is my second so I have a lot from my first hut I want to buy a lot new and haven't even started buying anything yet.

@Lisa yeh this is the alternative just money aside often gets spent on other things! lol. For big things (pram etc) I will def hold off just was curious as to when most start. It feels like it makes pregnancy a bit more real and fun to start buying but also feels like something I shouldn’t be doing!

I did a laybuy when I found out gender for a few baby items. But I didn’t have much money/a place until I was between 8-9m. I brought the majority of his bigger items around then due to financials.

@Sharnee I think that’s why I found it hard to resist today because we found out the gender yest

@Keara aww it’s all so exciting. What are you having? I want to find out but also want to keep it a surprise this time but it’s sooo hard 😭😂 Mama you go buy all the baby things you want. You aren’t going to jinx anything and you’ll be more prepared for later on x

I’m due 8th Jan and started buying around 7 weeks. So far we’ve got her entire wardrobe, a next to me crib, Moses basket, changing mat, breast pumps, most of the decorations for the nursery and other bits and bobs. We still need to get some of the bigger items such as travel system (but will get that later due to storing it for so long) and a lot of the smaller items

@Donna oh wow, we’re due the same day 😊 good to know I’m not the only one! I hate feeling disorganised!

@Sharnee we are having a boy 😊 I’ve always said I’d want to find out as did my partner so we was in agreement!! Thank you - I feel so much better now! Was almost feeling guilty about it! Xx

@Michelle agree the bigger items I will wait until nearer the time, but there is so much on the list to buy I just want to get started! X

@Keara aww beautiful! I have two boys so hoping for a girl this time around 😂 found out for both of them around 10-12wks but kinda wanna wait for a surprise but like the idea of being able to prepare 😫 the struggle is real. I will add I was still buying stuff for my bubs when he was 3 days old (came out smaller than expected and didn’t have any clothes small enough)

@Keara yes I understand it’s so overwhelming as well because so much is needed. Maybe start small by picking up a few vests, nappies etc and you will work your way through it. I am a big fan of pre loved items myself too so there will be a mixture of things new and pre loved for us as it can be so expensive but you can pick up some real bargains out there. Happy shopping! The most important thing is that you have fun and congrats on finding out the gender 🩷💙 x

I am due 4 January and did not buy anything. I try to put aside some money so I can buy all later when I am 7 months…I try to do research and see what I like, kind of creating a wish list of the things I will want and will need 😊

We suffered some losses before this so a little anxious at this stage. But I've still bought a few bits, mainly on vinted to have some clothes to try and connect and bond but I'll probably leave alot of stuff until just before baby comes. I've had lists of things to buy and done all my research over the last 2 yrs since our first pregnancy so I'm ready with my well researched list! We only plan on having one so makes sense to get some of the bigger things like prams second hand too

I brought all my stuff from vinted Bundles of clothing Etc And got a travel system that was pretty much brand-new from one of my friends
