Starting a business

So there is no way in hell I will starting my own business anytime soon. I already have my hands full. However, it’s always been my dream to have my own “mum cafe”. Like a little soft play/kiddie area and obviously cafe area for the parents😅 I’d love to bake all the cakes, traybakes, cookies etc. Just do not have the time right now! Is this a really bad business idea?😂

That sounds like a great idea I would do it too , we don’t have many of those where I live

@Christy same here, I live in a big town but there’s not much for little people to do!

Omg where are you located? I would def stay tuned.

@Kish I’m based in the UK x

🙁 I figured as much. People here in the U.S. don’t usually have cute ideas like such.

I’m moving lol

Im a chef and a mum based in the uk, what i would say is this is a great concept however, making all cakes & paninis/sandwiches is pretty unachievable due to restrictions within the catering industry. Please do message me if you'd like to talk about more indepth bits you'd need 🩵

https://www.littlebeansplay.com/ You should check this place out, it sounds similar to what you want to do. I haven’t gone to it yet as it just opened for business.

I think you need to find a partner or two to make it happen. There is a chocolate place that had a playroom when their kids were little, run by three moms ( the owner found them at a regular mom meetup). Then there was a playspace run by two mom friends - they didn't have food but allowed but got you a deal at next door pizza place - they had to close because they didn't transition from all day dropin to two hour drop in model after the pandemic. There is also a place on the other side of town that is a playroom with a cafe - delicious sandwiches. I believe again run by women/moms but they are at the point of hiring most of their workers. When I talked to another kids playroom/art studio owner she said she doesn't really make much from dropins but she does birthday parties and dropoffs that really pay for the space. You can offer to do the kids events with food on pop up basis first if that is allowed in UK.

i love this idea!! i too want to start my own business but have my hands full too and no time or money to make it happen. i would love to bake and sell things from my home!
