Food Stamps

I just saw someone post something similar. I'm pregnant and recently moved here. I have WIC and Medicaid but because I'm living under my sister's roof me, her, and my nephew are on the same case. She has the card in her name and only allows me 150 which I understand because it's a 1/3 of the amount allotted. before I moved here I was receiving $294 on my own in Virginia so even though I'm grateful I'd like to have my own card in my name and my own amount is that possible. She's become fairly intolerant of most things dealing with me for whatever reason and I'm trying to make sure that not only my beautiful unborn baby girl is ok but me as well. I'm starting to feel she enjoys being in control but I'm used to having my own things. Any help will be awesome as well as any and every resource you all can think of 💕 Thank you so much in advance!!!

Call the dss office and talk to the case manager for you and explain the situation see if they can help with getting your own card. Ultimately it comes down to making sure you are getting enough nutrition to keep that baby healthy.

Yes go up there and ask to be taken off the case with her. Tell them y’all live together but buy & prepare food separately. You can still use her address, apply for just you & your baby. And you’ll have your own case manager and your own card just for you. Dm me if you have any other questions!

Thank you both 😊🙏🏾 I'll contact them on Monday. If everything goes well I'll be moving early next month to my own place.. it's become kind of unliveable with her. I'm just hoping everything gets approved because I'll be able to literally be able to have everything in my own name and won't have to worry. Thank everyone so much. I'm open to any program and help right now so everything is legitimately accepted and helpful 💞

Yes it’s definitely best to get your own place because you deserve better 🩷💯 you can do it girl !!! Did you apply to a place yet ?

Contact the salvation army too for other resources. If you were closer to mooresville I would suggest feednc for a little extra help. Google 211 and look for places that you can also get help from especially with baby costs. Where I live there is a pamper pantry but I'm in iredell county. Not all hospitals in North carolina have a nicu as well so make sure you choose one that does. You never know what will happen and I unfortunately didn't know my hospital didn't have one so we were split up. Novant in Huntersville off of exit 23 has a level three nicu and they also have a person who will come in and do first pictures. Not sure of the cost though.

You can apply online. When my husband lost his job I applied online and a caseworker called to get more details the next day.
