Well done for starting! I was prescribed at the start of postpartum and was too scared to take it with looking after little one on my own. Would love to know how you get on. My partner has been on it for 10 years. Then came off it for a year but is back on it now as he just copes with emotions so much better with it. He felt a bit ‘wavy’ for literally 2 days and then was fine this time x

@Sophie thank you for replying, did you change for a different type or did you decide not to take anything? I hope you’re feeling better, this parenting stuff is hard work. Xx

I decided not to go on anything. I was only 6 weeks PP so it was too overwhelming at the time. I’m going to consider it again once my little boy is in childcare. Thankfully my partner has sorted his out so that’s helped slightly. Yes it’s so incredibly tough! The hardest thing I’ve ever been through for sure. If you ever want a rant or a chat drop me a message and we can whatsapp or something occasionally x

Iv been on it a few years and it’s the only one that’s helped me! :) xx

@Sophie I’m glad your partner got help too, it’s even worse if both of you aren’t 100%, my other half I’m worried is going down that way as he picks up a lot of slack from me not doing much (I just physically can’t). Thank you Sophie xxxx

A close family member is on the same minimal dose of sertraline atm, the difference in their mood is night and day and they themselves have said they feel like a new person (inital few weeks can feel like nothing is happening but you just need to wait for the effect to build up). Planning to stop it after the recommended 6 months and see how things are after that. It sometimes can kind of numb all emotions negative and positive for some people so they are quite keen on embracing life fully again now that they feel better and more stable. Very well done for getting help, it can be extremely difficult to reach out, you are setting a wonderful example for your child by showing them that it is worth being vulnerable and seeking support Xx

I was super hesitant to start setraline. Unfortunately it got to the point when I realised I had no choice and I had to take a medication. It’s hard to notice the difference yourself but my family members said they definitely noticed a big difference. I started off on 25 mg and went up to 50 few weeks ago. I didn’t notice any serious side effects. This medication definitely helps to keep emotions a bit more under control
