Does anybody sell on Etsy?

Has anyone had success selling on Etsy? How do you get buyers? I have nice things that I have sold off Etsy but it’s like I’m non existent on that platform. Some people make hundreds-thousands of sales. I can’t even get 1. Is there something I’m missing?

You still have to do marketing and drive traffic to your Etsy page. There are tags you put into your listing that will help you get more views through searching Etsy. Mainly it's views, buys and reviews that will keep your shop in the top 100.

Etsy also has a marketing option that you can choose. It costs more, but your store will come up with relevant items. It's not worth it, in my opinion. We do airplane stickers, and I have 20 open orders and have one currently with 10+ stickers.

I have and had a decent response. My brother in law kills it though. He randomly listed one table he made on there in 2020 and now he makes close to 120k a year on Etsy alone working completely by himself. The key is marketing. He initially paid for their marketing option where they basically help boost your shop via the search algorithm for certain key words. He had me find the top shops similar to mine and use their hashtags and search words, and generally just study their pages to get a better idea of how to organize, advertise and price things. It’s also important to claim you have “free shipping” but price out your shipping costs and build them into the listing price. Also the quicker you respond to customer questions, the quicker you ship, and positive reviews all boost your shop in the Etsy algorithm! Very important.

@Tiff this is very good advice thank you. Do you also advertise your shop on social media? Do you think it’s better to stick to one platform while selling? It’s so frustrating when Etsy takes out seller fees and I don’t sell

No problem! Yes! It’s important to use social media to your advantage. Make an Instagram and TikTok, and try engagement with reels and stories in addition to making your page look attractive! Also following other shops and participating in digital marketing events

I do. Almost 300 sales through Etsy. But Etsy has done nothing for me. I gained a following on Instagram and Etsy is where they go to purchase. From talking to a lot of others Etsy only is good if you have traffic from another social media.
