Name opinions

(Incognito because I know people on here and don’t want to announce his name until he’s here) I need help with our baby boys name! Since the start we have both loved the name Albie (I’m 26 weeks now), but I’d say over the last 8/9 weeks I feel like everyone is calling their boys Albie? I don’t know if it’s just me but I thought it was a unique name and now I feel like it’s the most popular boy name for this generation of newborns that I’ve seen. Maybe it’s just me because I notice it more now, but we were just hoping for a unique ish name and I feel like it will be very very popular for boys his age when he’s older. Have you heard/seen the name Albie before or a lot? A lot of my friends are still saying they’ve never seen it before so I’m curious as to how many people have? I’m also stuck with the spelling, is ‘Albi’ better or ‘Albie’??

I’ve heard it loads recently, know 3 people around me that have used it. I assumed it was after the tv series White Lotus

@🥰👨‍👩‍👦 thank you! I’ve never heard of the TV show but I feel like I’m going crazy when my friends say they’ve never heard it, I’m like how? It’s literally everywhere rn 🥲🤣

I think it is very popular but it's a beautiful name. Personally prefer spelling Albie

It's confirmation bias as well, you've picked a name and you hear it all the time, it's like of you get a new car you never see it and when you get a new car you then see them everywhere . I wouldn't worry about if you like the name 😊

We have an Albie in the family who’s coming up on 3 and my browns brother hit names his wee one Albie. Does come up quite near the top of the most popular list in the pregnancy + too now I think. Maybe keep it as a middle name?

Albie is lovely. I think Albi looks too close to the word alibi so I'd keep the e. I don't personally know anyone little or large by the name. I think it sounds sweet, nickname for Albert 🥰

Yeah Albie is really popular now. I made the same mistake when I named my son. I loved the name Ronnie because I thought it was unique. After I had named him and started taking him to baby groups I realised it was a really common name now 😩

Thank you everyone! I think I am probably being slightly dramatic it really doesn’t matter if people have the same name as him it is inevitable. I guess I’ll just wait until a little closer to little man’s arrival and see if we find anything better, if not I’ll stick with it 🥰 (Albie rather than Albi as well because my partner said he’ll get called Aldi instead if there’s no E 😭🤣)

Yeah, if anything really puts you off then fair, but if you like the name, stick with it 😊

my name is Albie but most people call me Bie (I know it’s very unusual for a girl but I like it!) personally I’ve never met anyone with the same name and had no idea it was becoming popular! I never have to deal with people spelling my name wrong or mishearing it as something else, which imo is more important than having an uncommon name

Yep, we have loads of albie babies in our nursery, I even likes the name albie (partner really doesn’t and had a girl anyway) but very popular now and so is Arlo which we liked 🤣

Yeah it's not unique

I'm in the US and never heard of the name
