Where do I get the copper coil?

I am about to give birth any day now and am keen on getting the copper coil as contraception. Can anyone tell me how soon after birth I can get it and how the process is? Do I call the GP for it and book an appointment?

Can either be inserted first 48 hours after birth or after 4 weeks post partum x

If your GP does them then that’s probs more convenient - or sexual health/family planning clinic if not

Sexual health clinic

You should be able to have it done on the post natal ward (I only know this as I’m having a c section tomorrow and the coil fitted)

My midwife told me that it will be discussed at my 6 week postpartum checkup and to just be careful in these weeks

@Emmo what a luck I have one right across the road where I live!

I’m 10 weeks pp and got an appointment for the coil in a couple of weeks as I was told I had to wait 12 weeks post birth 🤷‍♀️ however when I have googled it says straight after birth or 4 weeks x
