Trouble finding a career

Is it just me but it’s so hard finding a career I enjoy I really don’t know what to do with my life All I want is money and to find a great work/life balance. I don’t know much about it but I was thinking about going to nursing school since I found out they do 3 days on and have like 4 days off lol but idk if I have the heart for it. I can’t see someone die without balling my eyes out 😩

Do you have any existing education or experience? Or any specific interests? I’d say from my knowledge nursing is incredibly hard and underpaid, and the 3 days on are 12h+ shifts which are super tough too, it’s not as nice as it sounds.

I went to school for sterilization tech but I lost interest in like a month of going. I did complete it but I haven’t applied to any jobs so I just been working at any job I can get. I’m interested in the beauty industry (hair, skin and nails ) but I feel it’s over saturated and just my own doubt and fear 😩

@Aggs yeah u might be right I was hoping the 4 days will make up for it

It sounds like such a nice place to be to start fresh and kind of reinvent / find your passion. Beauty is saturated but salon work is very stable and reliable, and a lot of beauty techs work on a freelance or self-employer basis which means you could set your own schedule. Maybe see if there are any short courses you could take? I have a law degree and extensive background in a completely different field but planning to utilise my maternity leave to do a short-course or two in something which combines the two and hopefully gives me more work autonomy too.

@Aggs I wish I had some short classes in my area but there’s only full time and part and both will be atleast over a year of school. The schools I had checked out is strict on their times, I would have to be there from 8-5pm or 5pm -9pm. And the jobs ,travel and trying to get my child situated will definitely cut into those time but I hope one day I’ll figure it out . 😩definitely would want to give it a really good shot especially before I hit my 30s.

And good luck to u on your journey ✨👏🏽

So the way I found out what I wanted to pursue was by looking at what made me happy in my childhood, my teenage years, and the things that mean the most to me in life and the things that have affected me the most in life. So when I was little I liked dancing a lot so I’m continuing that as a side job since most dance classes are after working hours… then something that has affected my life is seeing my mother suffer from lack of support from my father also lack of child care. She’s sacrificed her life to raise us and didn’t have time for her happiness. Therefore I wanna focus on child care assistance for families. Focusing on mothers well being. I feel like it’s my duty to help other mothers going thru the same thing my mom was going through.. it will bring me some sort of peace since seeing her all depressed has affected me.

I have always had an interest in working with animals I’ve decided a little over a year ago to go for dog grooming and it’s going great I love it and I know that my goal is to one day work from home/make my own schedule so I can be around my kids still. I at one point wanted to go into cosmetology but I honestly don’t think I can work with people (lack of social skills 😂) like I used to with retail and grooming is great because I only really talk to another person at drop off and pick up and making appointments. I didn’t want to be a vet tech bc I’d be too emotional but I do think. But look at places around you if you’re interested and see how much groomers charge. Where I live groomers tend to make a lot of money. As of right now I am looking to change to working at a vet clinic since that gives more of a flexible schedule than working for a corporate store.
