Maternity leave.

When did everyone take maternity leave? I’m due 24th October. Would the start of October be good or before?

I’ve just booked mine. Start from 30th September (I work in a nursery so getting harder as I get bigger!!) I’ve taken annual leave for a couple of weeks before then, so finishing on the 19th officially. I think it depends on the type of work you do; mine is quite physical, running around after children etc! X

I’m having my baby on the 21st of October, I’m leaving work on the 21st of September(taking holiday first.) With my daughter I worked right up until the week before I had her which I regret as didn’t have time to get everything sorted and to also have some time to myself. 😊

@Lacey I was thinking is it better to take holidays before or use them after maternity?

I’m due Monday 21st October and looking to start Maternity leave Friday 18th October, as I wanted as long off with him as possible once he arrives 💙

I wfh a lot so planning to take leave at 37 weeks but not sure if that’s too late 😅

@Annabelle I was thinking to use my holidays that I will bank for when baby’s here. Such a hard decision 😅

@Chloe yeah I don’t think there’s a right/wrong decision. I’m hoping if I can save enough holiday that I won’t have to start back till January 2026. But I doubt these things ever work out perfect

@Chloe I’m using mine before else I will lose it if I don’t take it. My cut off is April 😊

I am also due on 21st of October however I have all of my holidays from this holiday year to take still so I am off from 26th of August and starting mat leave on 09/10/2024. I cannot carry over these holidays to the end of my mat leave as my company’s holiday year is March to April therefore it will be a new financial year by the time my mat leave is over. I am high risk for Pre Eclampsia so I wanted to make sure I don’t have to suddenly drop out from work, if the doctors decide to induce me early or anything like that.

With my first I went on my babymoon at 32weeks and came back 34weeks, had another week of annual leave, and then started maternity leave at 36 weeks. I work for myself now so will be going on mat leave 30th September (37 weeks) in time for my 19th October due date. My first came at 38+2 so might be leaving it a little late 😂

I’m also due 24th October 🩷 I’ve got MAT booked from 7th October and then using annual leave before that.

I'm going on 30 of July I'm due 15th October but I'm working as a cleaner in a busy factory otherwise if I had a office job I would go later

I’m due October 23rd, I’m going on maternity leave on October 9th but using the remainder of my annual leave before that, so technically going off from August 30th (I have to use the leave before baby arrives as cut off is April) x

I'm due 23rd. I've agreed to go on leave from the 11th October but I work from home so it's not too taxing to waddle to my office. Id rather have more time with her. Baby might have other ideas but we will see!

I’m due the 9th October and leaving work 6th of September 🤯 feel like I’m leaving too early but those weeks will fly by!!

When I went on maternity with my first I went on official mat leave from my due date, but took 3 weeks AL beforehand, I personally sat at home bored out of my brain😂 this time I won't take as much leave beforehand as I couldn't stand being sat around and felt perfectly able to work! That being said everyone is different so take leave when you feel you need to for your body and peace of mind🥰

I'm due on the 18th, taking mat leave from the 14th and annual leave from the 7th (basically 2 weeks before). I'm a bit worried I'll go early and it'll eat into my prep/relax time but also feel like if I end up being late (which is apparently more common for your first) I don't want to risk having too much time off and being bored!

I am also due on 24th October, I am starting mat leave the week I am due and have a weeks annual leave before then so finish on 11th October. I feel like I may regret that decision but I wanted as long as possible with baby next year!

It’s very much to do with how you’re coping at work. If you do a physical job you’ll probably need to go earlier than a desk job. I booked for C-section 17th oct. My mat leave will start 30th sept but I have a month of annual leave before that too

Hey girlies, how does it work? I gave my MATB1 form in yesterday but they’ve not asked for a date yet? Is that right? X

@Jen you should be having a meeting now you’re 25 weeks. You will probably have one soon x

@Chloe ah okay that makes sense lol, thank you x

I’m due 16th October, but I’m starting my maternity leave Monday 14th October. I’m lucky enough that my manager is flexible with me working from home on my laptop for the last few weeks before my due date.

@Lottie I ended up doing similar just got an extra week. Either way it’s a hard decision if you want more time with baby or more time to prepare x

I’m only going off the week before but we get to keep our holidays so i’m using them to come off maternity leave after 40 weeks and get paid until the year mark x

I'm going off at 37 weeks. I work in a hospital and as a teacher so it's pretty physical and Im wanting to relax and batch cook and nest nearer the time.

I’m due 19th October and my last day at work is 20th September taking 2 weeks holiday then maternity officially starts on 7th October

I’m sure on the 25th. I’m starting mine on the 21st - but starting AL on the 3rd October x

I’m taking it at 32 weeks because I work nights and I’m so done with work🙌🏼🤣

Due 3rd October and last day at work is 19th September. 2 weeks before due date will be my last day 😀👏 I’m lucky I work from home so it’s not too strenuous and want to have as much time with my baby as possible.

I’m due on the 11th and starting mine on the 1st. I don’t work weekends so think it’s 7 working days I’ll miss but I do work an office job so there’s no manual labour

I’m due 30th sept and I’m going on Mat leave 30th august hope this helps xx

I’m due 12th October and my last working day is aug 31st!!

I was due on the 8th of November…it’s my third and I assumed as all my babies have come early I’d work up until two weeks before. However…due to a complicated high risk pregnancy, a scheduled c section for early October and the likelihood I may be admitted to hospital at 32 weeks. I opted to take it ridiculously early 😂 so I’ll be going on mat leave on September 2nd which sounds insane but at this point I truly can’t wait. It gives me time with the other two children beforehand too. So I’m really excited.
