our children are a reflection of how we raise them

I do believe that this statement is partially correct because they learn from us and those behaviors reflect who they become, but outside influences such as school and friends also affect things. They eventually become old enough to believe what they want to believe is right, but I do think our initial parenting is always going to have an impact on their decisions and how they choose to live their own individual lives.

We build their foundations so when they come across others they can then decide if this aligns with what they believe and have been brought up with. I’m 35 and I still hear my mums voice when I come across things that make me think or I have to make decisions. I believe their behaviours and actions come from how parents behave up to a certain age.

Such taboo topic, people grown into their own people. You can do everything “right” in your mind; however , they will developed their own likes and dislikes. This is a very taboo topic and it’s very controversial. My husband was raised with saints as parents he’s an alcoholic and not a saint by any means. My friend was raised with parents who let her do anything growing up, now she doesn’t do anything that she doesn’t see as “right.” Again very controversial.

If we cultivate a warm, loving relationship with our kids, they will want to be like us in the ways that matter. They learn not from our instructions, but from seeing us live our values. Less of a reflection, more of an echo.

@Bonny love this!!
