UTI

Hi, I currently have a uti and I’ve rang my doctors and they said they have no appointments for the rest of the week and I’ve rang my local pharmacy and they’re saying they have nothing I can purchase it has to all be through my gp. Does anyone know what I can take or do to help ?

Your GP should be much more help! You should be prioritised as pregnant, my GP are rubbish but would make sure I had antibiotics today. Do you have a walk in GP service near you? We have one in our local hospital where you’re seen pretty quick and they can prescribe the same as your normal GP x

Did you say you’re pregnant? You are treated as urgent if you are. Is there an appointment request you can do online? If I send one of them I put it urgent and say I’m pregnant and they call me / get me in

Pharmacy first is a new directive, they will prescribe antibiotics for UTIs rather than you going to a GP.

I’ve had multiple uti’s since being pregnant. I would ring back your GP and not take no for an answer. Or I would just turn up with a urine sample! If not, can you not call your midwife or the triage service at your hospital as I was in pain on a Sunday and triage sorted it for me x

Either ring your GP again or call 111, they'll have someone call you back and can prescribe antibiotics over the phone if needed 😊 My GP managed to fit me in for a UTI last week on their urgent list once I'd mentioned I was pregnant x

@Charlotte yes i said I’m pregnant and have a uti and they said no appointments x I have a midwife appointment tomorrow so I don’t know if it’s worth mentioning to them x

Oh 100%. Your midwife can send the prescription through. Don’t forget your urine sample if you have a container too. If not I’m sure she will ask you to do one if you mention a uti as she will do a dipstick x

@Charlotte perfect I’ll do that then, I’m going to look at changing gps too as they aren’t very helpful x

I got rid of a uti this pregnancy with homeopathy, theres several remedies that can work well, you could call helios or book an appt with a homeopath. Antibiotics mess up my body for months or years so i avoid them if possible but I’ve got rid of several infections with homeopathy, worth looking into if you want to go a more natural route
