Any teachers that can help me with SPL?

I want to apply for teachers shared parental leave so that I can get paid for a few holidays before returning to work after Easter. Looking at the SPL website, it talks a lot about SMP pay but I was under the impression that it was full pay for those weeks you have applied for. Can anyone help me please? If it’s just SMP im not sure if it’s worth the hassle of applying?

Yes, it’s full pay for your “working” weeks that you’d take in the holidays. I’ve successfully applied to do it.

@Megan thank you, I thought so but found the website confusing. Can I ask, did you pay for them to help you or just fill in the forms yourself?

We filled in the forms and then paid to have them checked, which was very helpful as we’d made an error. There is a how to video on the website though which we hadn’t seen and if we’d watched it we wouldn’t have made the error. The company were great though in terms of advice and they checked the forms again after we’d corrected the error.

The video is really easy to follow. I didn't pay and was successful

I paid for the service. Unfortunately, it didn't benefit me at all because I need to go back to work as soon as my enhanced mat pay period ends but it would have been so useful if I was taking longer off. They calculate it all, create a spreadsheet showing your pay for every month that you're off and fill in all the paperwork. They even refunded me some of my money, when I decided not to go forward with it!

If you have baby near the summer holidays you don't gain as much but can still use for Christmas and Easter weeks.

@Jo yes that’s what I am planning as my baby is due this week. Hoping to use it over Xmas hols, Feb and then Easter.
