Can you do this???

Can you drive a car to service with insurance but without MOT. I know having no MOT makes the insurance invalid, but is it illegal to take the car to service and then to have the MOT after?? Thank you!!

This is UK btw

I think if the mot has expired the only exception to drive it is to the mot test, not the service.

If the MOT is included within the service then yes but if it’s just a service then no

I think if it's short drive and it is to the MOT place then yes makes sense x

@Amanta it doesn’t matter how long the drive is. It’s still illegal.

You can drive your car to get an MOT or to have it repaired if it failed an MOT. So for example, if you fail an MOT, you can drive to the repair place, then back to have another MOT done. Although the place we have our MOT done fixes cars on site and retests so it’s never been an issue for us
