You don’t have to do them and some employers don’t want you to do them but you’re entitled to 10 days

Yes! I want to take all 10 of mine before Xmas for obvious reasons. LO is exclusively breastfed and yes I know he'll start eating real food soon but most of what he'll need until the NY is milk. My HR say I can do all 10 as work from home but my boss wants/insists that I do 3 in the office! Won't get paid for my KIT days until I do all 10 so that's not an option, not enjoying it at all.

I sent an email to HR and my boss saying I’m coming in for 2 kit days this month and put the dates I am going. I said if there’s any issues with the dates just to let me know and advise a better date and could HR amend payroll to reflect the Kit days I’m coming in for x

@India so you know, that's illegal. They should not wait till you've taken all 10 till you're paid, because you don't have to do all 10. Payment for KIT days should be made in the same way as the employee’s usual contractual pay, in the payroll for the week or month worked. This means the employee should not have to wait until the end of their maternity leave to be paid, unless this would be the next usual date for payroll. https://www.davidsonmorris.com/keeping-in-touch-days/

@Annem unfortunately I'm military so usual working laws don't actually apply to us 🤦‍♀️

They don’t legally have to offer you them but it’s morally wrong to just ignore you. I’d keep chasing until you get answer x

Sorry should have specified, maternity leave policy is an employee is given 10 KIT days
