Birth control

Has anyone else chosen to go on a progesterone-only birth control pills after baby and had weird results from it? I’m only about a month in to taking it, so maybe my body still needs more time to adjust… but I’ve pretty much had a nonstop period since starting these pills 😭 I had 2 distinct periods a week apart, and now I’m continuously spotting and it’s sooo annoying. My midwife recommended this type of BC because I am breastfeeding, and I wasn’t really ready to start a more invasive form of birth control like an IUD. I was on the pill before having a baby.. so overall this method works for me, I’m just wondering if this is normal & hopefully will level out and I’ll stop bleeding soon. (I’ve already briefly spoken to my doctor so I’m not worried… more just interested to hear others’ experiences)

Are you taking it at the same time every day? My Dr told me that it needs to be pretty much exactly the same time every day otherwise you can have bleeding.

@Isabel yes I set my alarm for 9am but sometimes I forget to take it until about 10am. But it’s always within that hour window.

It can take up to 3 months for any contraceptive pill to settle with your body - this is one thing i dread to start again with when ive gave birth 🥴 so you have to try and wait it out and itll hopefully calm down and find a sort of routine. But unless of other symptoms they wont do much for you until its been 3 months☹️

I had the same thing when. I started my first month on progesterone only birth control. Now on the second week of the second month and it is much better. My OB said to just wait until the end of the 3rd month of taking it to see if we needed to adjust anything.

@Tamara🫶🏼 @Megan thank you both! Super helpful. It hasn’t been too bad… just annoying 😅 I was one of the very lucky ones to get my period back IMMEDIATELY after giving birth… so just trying to get used to the new normal of my cycle and all the other fun parts of my postpartum body 🙃
