If you could find a work from home job that isn’t constantly on the phone, this is what works for me.

What were you doing before? Depending on what it is freelancing like Elena said might not be a bad idea.

Have you looked into applying for the free childcare that the government is doing? I work 32 hours and get 15 hours free childcare and then I claim UC which gives me 85% back of the rest, she is in nursery for 20 hours a week

We have to wait until our little boy is 3 before he goes to nursery as well as we can't afford to pay for him while he is 2.

Have a look at your local authority and the civil service. I wfh 3 days a week with my girl, they have lots of flexi contracts and working hours. It’s a very family friendly and secure employer, good salary and good pension. I started there at 21 and I never left xx

@Bianca yes, i started off as administration at 21 and 12 years on I work in policy. There are roles in every stream and departments of everything to engineering and mental health services. It’s a huge employer, I think there’s 500,000 of us now across all departments. It also has offices all over the uk too if you ever want to see colleagues or have training xx

@Kayla I did a 16week bootcamp and started applying 4 week in and started my job after finishing the bootcamp. Utilised a lot of my transferable skills too

Could you afford a nanny share instead? My mother in law is a 15+ year experienced London nanny and only charges £14 an hour which split between 2-4 kids is a lot lower than nursery fees, average nanny fees in london are £12-16 an hour so this may be a way to make going back at least part time a lot more affordable This call centre occasionally hire wfh staff and is based in Angel, worth a call to the hiring number left in link to see if they’re hiring atm For a while i was a chat room moderator, my best paid one was £40 an hour on an online casino site, they’re quite easy to find on google and you can do so without even needing a mic I sell vintage baby clothes at a profit too, which does make me a few extra hundred a month but nothing that would pay the bills!

@Momi I haven’t done it myself, but think that one will need to learn how to edit videos and then find clients on something like fiverr. Lots of bloggers and brands need content for their social media. One would need to learn how to use software of course
