🇬🇧 UK - is the name Penelope too over done??

I love the name but kind of dismissed it because it feels too popular. I also like the names Bonnie and Polly.

I'm not a fan honestly never really was but then I heard someone say in their country it means penis, now I'm not sure how true it is but they were rude and laughed at a lady naming her kid that and I forever think of that convo now when I hear the name. I also have the pig movie come to mind so the names just a bit tainted for me 😆

I loved the name Ivy until a friend of a friend said it was a stripper name 🥴

Our surname is Fox and we fell in love with Ruby at first and got told Ruby fox sounded like a pornstar 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️ She’s Maya now!! Polly, Bonnie & Penelope are all lovely. Polly is gorgeous though, not met anyone called Polly since I was little!

I know a few Penelopes. The reason I'm not a.huge fan is because I find it difficult to pronounce. 😂 But then I'm not British.

i live in the UK and don't know anyone named Penelope - i wouldn't say it was overused at all. 🤷🏻‍♂️ i love the name Polly - it's so cute as a full name, but i also think Polly works as a nickname for Penelope, along with Poppy, Penny, Nellie etc - so you could consider Penelope with Polly as a potential nickname, as that way you could use two names you love. 💕

Penelope is number 32, Bonnie number 35 and Polly number 160 in the most recent stats for England & Wales. I think you would be fine, even at number 32 that’s only just over 1200 babies. Any of these would be great choices!
