Nursery’s !!!

My daughter has been in nusery since she was 2 ( last september ) she’s 3 now and in september i’m putting her into a school nusery Now i’ve brought a gift card for her key worker ( not sure what else i’ll be getting her) a lot of people have said get something for the manager of the nusery as well. so i also got a gift card … but is this something people do? because there are also 7 other ladies in that room that do help with all children and i feel guilty only getting for the manager and the key person what would everyone do regarding the manager and the 7 other ladies? would you gift them all something ? just the key worker? key worker and manager ?

A box of chocolates is more than enough for those that aren't her key worker

Childcare is my profession and trust me when I say that the managers do naff all! I would get a nice gift for the key person and a box of chocolates to put in the staff room

@Katie I worked my way up a deputy manager in my setting. Myself and the manager were in the room with the staff and children as much as we could be. So I don't appreciate your comment of 'we do naff all'. We work incredibly hard behind the scenes. What would have been better is to state that at your setting, that is the case, but in no way is the case for all settings. We were an incredibly hands-on team, and it showed with the staff, children and feedback we received

@Lizzie That’s great for you and your nursery but every nursery I’ve ever worked in the managers just sit in the office. They might be doing paperwork but when it comes to the children they were never in the room actually dealing with it all.

@Katie That's why I stated that you should have maybe worded it a bit differently to 'at your setting' instead of making it a big sweeping comment to managers to naff all. I completely understand that every setting works differently, which is why I felt the need to comment for the deputy and managers who are hands-on as much as they can be.

@Katie the manager at my nursery has gone above and beyond for my son! And yes this maybe more putting things in place for him and sending emails to relevant authorities! Office work can be fundamental to the child’s care too!

@Lizzie it’s not just ‘at my setting’ tho is it? As I’ve just said it’s the same in multiple settings that I’ve worked in. In all honesty you didn’t really need to make your comment out to me specifically, you could’ve just put your comment from your point of view rather than starting an argument

@Emma I’m happy that you’ve had that experience

@Katie I'm not starting an argument. I'm pointing out a fact that not all settings are like the ones you've worked in. But your first comment of 'they do naff all' is a huge sweeping comment for all settings, and yes, it's taken personally as I'm one of those you're talking about. Even if I didn't tag you in my comment, it would have been obvious to my response that it was in response to yours. And I'm sure you would have commented back. The only reason I commented was to make people aware that not all settings are like the ones you've worked in.

@Lizzie I would not have in fact commented back had you had not made it out specifically to me. I would have just been happy for you that you work in a good nursery where the managers like to help out.

@Katie I honestly don't mean this is in a condescending way. I'm sorry that your experience in the childcare industry hasn't been great with regards to managements lack of involvement within the settings, and I hope at somepoint in your childcare career you eventually work somewhere with better management. My only point was that it's not the case with management everywhere.
