Birth Control

Made my appointment to get IUD in 2 weeks. My partner says that they are able to feel it and it is painful for them? Looking for some insight on what y’all use or what worked? Also anyone who has an IUD if you could speak on ur experience pros and cons. Thanks in advance

I've had the IUD all my life and I swear by it! Ex boyfriends couldn't feel anything lol it's literally all mental for them I believe. Pros: I didn't have periods Never got pregnant Peace of mind Cons: Because I never had been pregnant while using it they did have to dilate me when I got the first time and for replacements The first time I got it I bled lightly for about 3months it's uncomfortable gryting it taken out for replacements or removals especially if the strings get lost (happened to me) but most times and in my case they were just bunched up in there That's really it though. I loved it and if you don't wanna have it in for 5yrs I believe there's a sister one that lasts 3yrs

Forgot to add you would have to do pep smears for all your yearly exams just so they can make sure the strings are in place. And if they aren't they just pull them back out or do an ultrasound to make sure they are there which most times they are. You will know if they weren't there cause the strings have a certain feel to them and I'm sure you'd see it or feel weird down there if the strings were coming out

I have an iud, at first he could feel it because it takes a few weeks to wrap around your cervix like it’s supposed to (my OB explained this to me on my 6 week check) another option is to have them cut the string even further down if your partner can feel it but you don’t wanna go too short. Just my experience now he cannot feel it at all
