Bleeding on progesterone.

Does progesterone mask a miscarriage. I’m on progesterone after 2 MCs. Bleeding started this morning but light and stop/start. Not like my other miscarriages at all which were much heavier bleeding with clots.

I’m bleeding on progesterone because of a subchorionic hematoma (not sure on spelling 😂) but the baby is totally fine. When i bleed its dark brown old blood so no worries. They might be able to see something on a scan? I had a miscarriage before this one so I know bleeding is scary but not always bad x

My whole first trimester I had pink and brown light bleeding/spotting due to the progesterone. I’m currently 19 weeks and haven’t had any spotting or bleeding since I stopped taking it at 12 weeks :)

Thanks both and congrats. Hope all stays well.

@Sarah how long had you been using the progesterone when u started bleeding and was a cause ever established or was it put down to the progesterone its self.

I was on 100mg by mouth that I started as soon as a got a positive so I would have been just over 3 weeks and then I started spotting just over 4 weeks so my doctor increased the dose to 400mg twice a day vaginally. My doctor couldn’t find a reason so she just said the first bit of spotting was probably from implantation and then the spotting after that she said was most likely an irritated cervix from the progesterone

Thank you.

It doesn’t mask it but will delay the miscarriage. My embryo stopped growing at 6 weeks but the progesterone let the pregnancy continue until 9 weeks. I’ve only lost the pregnancy because the heartbeat stopped
