Sure start maternity grant

Hi guys, I’m just wanting advice. I previously applied for the sure start grant and was not accepted although I fit the whole criteria, so I spoke to job centre and they said to fill the form out again and hand it in… which is what I did.. on the 24/06/24 I then got a msg from DWP, but it’s worded different from the previous time. Does this mean good or bad news? We should find out in a few weeks…

I had this message and got it, doesn’t mean it 100% I suppose but if you fit the criteria then you should be fine

The next message I got was just under a month later & it said I was awarded n it will be in my account within 3-5 working days

Okay thank u. I suited the criteria first time round but for some reason they said I wasn’t on UC so wasn’t eligible even tho I’ve been on it since August 2023

Sorry to jump on your question - how long after you posted it did you get the text?

I got the text on the 24/06/24 probs a week or so after I gave it to job centre

I sent mine a week ago by post but no where did it say the turn around time so I was just curious

Give them a call every week or two, my claim kept getting “forgotten about” and I had to keep pushing it. Applied in April and got last week so make sure you are checking in and asking for updates periodically x

I got this and then within 28 days they messaged saying I’d receive in 5 working day I think lots of people get that message then receive it x
