Birth control

I’m not sure which birth control I should use. I’ve never used birth control before and I’m considering trying the implant or the shot. Which one do y’all like or recommend. Also pros and cons of them would be helpful. But anything helps!

Before getting pregnant, I was using the pill form. It was really hard for me to remember to take it every day at the same time, I felt as though it made me very emotional. I just gave birth a month and a half ago and I’m going to try the implant I get it in August.

I had the implant for a year I’m thinking of trying it again if the depo doesn’t work out (I’ve been on for three months and I’ve been bleeding since I have birth (4 months ago))

I had three implants over 9 years, it was great as I didn't get pregnant and it's so easy as you don't have to think about it for 3 years. However, I would have periods that lasted 8 weeks and I couldn't lie down on my arm for any period of time without my arm going numb. After giving birth I went on the depo. I haven't had a full period since. I gave birth last January, I bled for 3 days in the September (when I was due to have another shot) and bled again for 4 days this February, again for the same reason. Downside of the depo though, you are meant to take calcium supplements as it takes calcium out of your bones, and a common side effect is weight gain. Hope this helps x

Had the implant in when I was 16 to 19. I suffer with depression and anxiety. Throughout the time having it I would go to doctors and they would say that there’s no link to depression or making it worse. I went downhill so eventually decided to go to a sexual health clinic instead and the guy said I should have had it out ages ago. I’ve just had one put back in after having my second child purely because I’m not good at remembering to take tablets and the coil (non hormone) makes you bleed heavier and more painful which I’m already heavy. I’m not as bad this time but also on antidepressants. It has however lowered my libido which isn’t great as it is anyway from the antidepressants. The first one I had also bent in my arm so had to get it replaced. If you look it up there’s also other effects such as weight gain.

@Kelsey yea I can’t do the pill I’ll forget to take it lol then eventually stop taking it

I just got Nexplanon. It was very quick and did not hurt at all. I have a fear of needles, but it went by so quickly it didn’t bother me. I like it because it only lasts three years so I can try for a baby when it’s expired.

Strongly don't recommend the depo shot

I love the mirena

I do the pill.

@Haley oh no I’m on that why?

@Lennon well first it made me gain a ton of weight and made me crazy lol it just did not work for me but I know alot of other people that's tried it and didn't work for them but it could be different with you. I mean everyone is different I would just be careful on it. I was a total bitch on it
