Weight loss

Is Slimfast good for helping you lose weight? Right now I eat once or twice a day. Breakfast is normally 2 cups of coffee. For lunch, I eat what I can find or just skip it. Dinners are whatever my husband decides to pick up.

To lose weight you need to be using more energy (ie calories) than you’re consuming. Whether it’s food, shakes, meal replacements… you need to work out how many calories you’re burning each day and then how many you need to fuel yourself whilst still losing weight. The ballpark is 1750-1950 but it depends hugely on weight, height, age and activity level.

@Jen are there any good free apps or websites for figuring out that stuff out?

Honestly you are probably under eating which is causing your body to hold onto weight. I would definitely suggest meal prepping super easy, then you can just eat cold or heat up in the microwave. Eating protein based food will help too

@Sam probably most of the time there's not much for lunch so I just skip it. Dinner is whatever my husband decides to bring home. I don't always eat much for dinner because I hate waiting till 8 or later to eat.

Absolutely! https://www.seancaseyfitness.com/calorie-calc

You can follow this guy on insta as well he keeps it really straightforward about how to lose weight and not lose your mind at the same time! Best of luck xx

Agreed protein is what fuels your body and what keeps you fuller. I wouldn't do slimfast myself since it's mostly empty carbs and sugar.. I'd probably rather make a shake at home. Look into intermittent fasting which if done right is way better than Skipping meals imo. Also look up going into a calorie deficit if determined with some weight loss.. meal prepping is also your best friend when losing weight. It'll help you keep track on your calorie intake

@Mayte I would try meal prepping but it wouldn’t work for me

Awe man well whatever works for you for sure its your journey! Goodluck! :)

What Jen & some of the other gals said I agree with. I've used the macros app JosmanTek, there's a free version and I love it. You can scan barcodes or input food manually. Meal prepping has helped me a ton. I realized that over the years, I have not been getting enough calories & protein. That's why I've always been so tired. Meal preparation some meals helps so much with having kids.

@Lisa my husband does all the shopping. I just eat what he buys. I’ve tried to talk him into making listing and meal planning but it never works.

A slimfast would certainly be better than skipping lunch!

@Sam I agree with you. It can be hard to lose weight if you're not taking in enough calories. Protein at every meal . Can you switch with your husband and do the shopping and some of the cooking, so that you have more control over what is being served? It does take a good amount of commitment and discipline to lose weight and keep it off

I know the feeling, my husband goes shopping sometimes & I end up having to go to get stuff for me mid week. Try and make do with what you have. Agreed, slim fast is better than skipping a meal. I've tried intermittent fasting after 2 of my pregnancies & it's worked great. Dr Mindy Pelz has a really good book I just started (Fast like a girl) & she's got a podcast on YouTube covering it as well. With fasting it helps to have healthy good but I've done it both ways with meal prep & not & it's worked well.

@Kate I don’t drive so i can’t do the shopping it sucks. I might look and see if I can get Walmart delivery but we live out of town. Also we neither one know how to budget so money is tight and we do a lot of things like chili dogs and stuff like that.

Girl you gotta eat more

High protein and strength training will get you right trust me just increase the calories cuz if you don’t your body will probably keep holding onto fat as a response to the lack of energy

What sort of food is he buying? Does he cook or gets take out?

@Jen things like hot dogs, chicken, steak, pizza. He cooks dinner every night unless he's closing then we do pizza for dinner

I use my fitness pal to track calories

@Bella I downloaded it yesterday but I don't know what do put in for calories for somethings

I just do a close alternative if I can’t find what I’m looking for.

All fast can help but if you want to lose weight you can to eat enough calories so your body doesn’t think it’s in starvation mode and retain weight and everything you eat. At the end of the day no matter how many times you eat you have to eat enough and be in a calorie deficit by workout out. Eat a high protein diet as well.
