Has anyone had an IVF cycle canceled?

I’m on my second egg retrieval cycle and on a slightly modified protocol. Apparently my ovaries are “sleepy” and I only have one measurable follicle on day 11 of stims. My doc says to continue meds until day 13 of stims and we’ll reassess to see if we need to cancel my cycle. I have a bad feeling it’s going to be canceled based on my nurse’s tone. Anyone else been through this? Just heartbreaking to spend all this money out of pocket and time and effort on something and then to be in this situation. I know it’s a gamble but this is my first time being in this situation and I’m struggling to accept it.

Hey really sorry to hear what your going through. mine was cancelled as I only had two follicles after the Medication and my dr felt “I could do better “ his words . I do have a 8 month old now though from that same cycle as we decided to risk it and try naturally as we had been trying for 3 years and this was our only chance.

Thank you for sharing. Congrats to you! I unfortunately am unable to try for an IUI instead because my tubes are blocked and I have to PGT-M test all my embryos due to a genetic condition I carry. It’s hard to accept the money and time and effort might be for nothing.

I’m so sorry to hear this. I had my cycle cancelled on the morning of my egg retrieval just prior to sedation, as I’d ovulated early when they scanned me. They told me this and then five minutes later, reminded me of the £800 theatre cancellation fee I owed for the cancellation. I too was just heart broken, confused and upset. On reflection, if they suggest you cancel, try to take any information you’ve gathered from this cycle and protocol and use it to modify your next one. Sending hope and strength - you can do this ✨

@Zoletta thank you. I’m so sorry that happened to you. And it sucks how quickly they remind you of the financial responsibilities involved. Ugh. This hurts so much. 😭

Hang in there, you’re not out yet. Things will settle with time - try to keep positive, present and focused.
