We were being encouraged to have genetic testing, and they definitely meant a blood tests for each of us, not the testing of future embryos. I think it was just blood tests. But then for various reasons we decided to change to donor eggs and they didn’t mention it again! I understand donors have had lots of tests but they didn’t seem bothered about my partner anymore! I think my clinic sent me some info about the testing I can email you if you want to send me a message with email address xx
@Nicole thank you. Yes they definitely suggested pgt a and only 2 were normal out of 6 so they are thinking about testing our chromosomes.
@Loral yes, that's exactly what they are suggesting. As i had too less normal embryos, they want to check us. I feel they are grasping at straws. Yes will message you. Thanks
My husband and I both were tested before we started IVF at all, can be helpful if there’s something going on that you don’t even know about! In the end we didn’t learn about anything new that would likely carry over to our kids, but I already knew I had a genetic issue that we separately needed to test the embryos for. Can’t ever hurt to have more info!

2/6 really doesn’t sound abnormal, esp if you’re in the 30+ zone. My dr always said about 50% should come back with normal chromosomes, and of course it won’t be 50% every time, so you’re right in the “normal range.” We did multiple rounds of retrievals and always lost around 50% to chromosomal testing. My doctor always repeated the mantra that “it’s a numbers game.” I didn’t find it encouraging at the time but I’m sure he was right.
Thanks for sharing that Nicole, I'm over 30. And it has been an awful experience so far. Trying to stay positive but it's not easy. Lets see what the test results will say
Hi! I’ve done pgt a and m testing - they’re probably suggesting you do tests for chromosome abnormalities. Our doctor told us that most miscarriages are due to chromosomal abnormalities, so weeding out those embryos hopefully gets you a better success rate. Not sure what impact it has on the actual implantation. Of course, not 100% guaranteed to get you a successful implantation. Last year we miscarried a tested embryo, so it does happen.
