IVF private

Good Evening, I had my first consultation with Care Fertility this morning, after 5 years of TTC. My husband's exams came back all good. Instead, my ovaries are showing (and confirming) a typical scenario of PCOS (I had 47 follicles in total). I chose Care Fertility as I looked to the reviews and for the prices as well. The price for the IVF was of £3555. On the consultation, we've been informed that it will be £8000 (just IVF, No ICSI involved). Me and my husband are quite stressed as we know that IVF is expensive but, looking at the information on the leaflets, we thought we spend nearly £4000 for one cycle. I'm scared as I don't know what to do. If we had a 90% of chance to get pregnant, we wouldn't even think twice but spending so much for a 40% chance... it's quite stressful... especially considering that I'm the "faulty" one. I would like to hear your experiences on going to IVF privately and how you have dealt with the cost. Thank you 🌸

We went with Care. We chose the multi-cycle package, which is two full cycles (if you are successful in the first one, you don’t get to use the second one). It’s about £8.5k for the package, plus £2k for the stimulation drugs. In the end, we only used the one cycle as I got lucky on my fourth transfer. However, the package still saved us money as each subsequent transfer after the first fresh one would have cost £2,750. Each transfer round involved additional drugs, which ranged from £350 to £1500. We also paid extra for some testing and to have the embryos PGT-A tested. Altogether I think we paid about £16k.

It’s so unfair isn’t it - the hidden costs mount up. The price lists are terribly misleading. Care fertility might do a payment plan? Most clinics do. Ours was about £12k luckily it was just after Covid so we were working and not spending so saved up
