Hey new to the group

Just found out I have PCOS on Monday. Currently on BC haven’t had a period for almost 4months, dr said I should lose some weight change my diet and exercise, kinda sucks because I have always been regular but after my second baby is when my period started being weird. Started with every other month and now I’m going on almost 4, since I’m not trying to have anymore babies my doctor said our main focus is getting my period back and to lean out. I’ve just been researching all things PCOS, kinda made me feel like I won’t be able to enjoy things I once did, like eating what I want, I love sweet treats which made me sad. But this could be for the better I’m trying to see the bright side, like this will push me more to be healthier since I am overweight for height and age my goal is to get down to 130s or high 120s. On top of it I’m super close to being pre-diabetic and I heard it could be because of the PCOS. Any recommendations for supplements, trying to start my period, feeling a little depressed and of course thinking…”was there something I could’ve done to avoid this”….. idk what to expect.

I have pcos it sucks. I heard Mediterranean diet is really good. There is also inostil otc that suppose to help regulate you

Yeah that is what I’m beginning to understand…it sucks. Hmmmm I’ll look into those, thank you!

I got on inositol helped a lot I also take milk thistle and DHEA for my adrenals. I got off BC and saw an endocrinologist, which they put me on metformin and it’s helped a lot esp due to the insulin resistance see if your gyno can recommend one if not try and find one from primary or your own! Personally and for a lot of people I know with PCOS avoid cardio - walking and weight lifting are great options instead! You’re gonna feel better and healing starts now! 🫶🏼💕

I’m on metformin to treat my insulin resistance and it’s helped me lose a small amount of weight. I also follow Glucose Goddess on Instagram and bought her book “glucose revolution” wherein she talks about how insulin resistance begins and how it connects to PCOS and ways we can reverse both conditions through nutrition and lifestyle changes. Hacks like eating a veggie starter before a carb heavy meal, pairing carbs with protein, walking after eating, etc can help heal insulin resistance. Best of luck! It’s not easy and I’m still trying to work on it myself too.

How did you find out you had it? X

Low carbs, low sugar, high protein. Intermittent fasting (I often don’t eat between 6pm and 10am). Resistant/weight training. Regular walks. I still eat treats but doing the above raises my energy levels and I get shorter more normal cycle lengths.

@Robyn I saw my obgyn… did blood work and got an ultrasound

Thank you all for the tips. Will be trying these. Hanging in there 🫶🏽
