Lexapro while pregnant

Hello. I am planning/hoping to get pregnant my next cycle coming up. I have tried to come off my lexapro before but was not able to do it. I feel guilty about continuing to take it while pregnant but I really need to… has anyone taken it while pregnant? Please share your experience and how your baby is! Thank you!

Hi! No need to feel guilty at all. I took Zoloft which is the same type of medication as Lexapro, my whole pregnancy. My now two year old is perfectly healthy with no issues. Your mental health is so important and stress and anxiety can be way worse for a pregnancy than taking your medication. My mom is a Psychiatrist and said there is no need to feel bad about taking this. Hope this helps!

Your mental well-being outweighs the very minimal risks that are associated with Lexapro in pregnancy. Im 30 weeks with my second and have been on it the entire time. I was also on it when I was pregnant with my first

Yes I took it while pregnant and was told it’s completely safe! Your mental health is super important. My daughter is super healthy and happy

Yep! Took it the entire pregnancy with both my girls! 🥰

I took Lexapro (20mg with my first, 10mg with my second) and they had no health complications from it at all. They’re now 3 and 9 months - happy and healthy!

Multiple doctors told me it is perfectly safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding! I was on both Zoloft and lexapro while pregnant in different pregnancies and both my boys are healthy as can be.

It is obviously not the best thing for baby but neither is a non functional depressed mother. In these situations you are looking for the best outcome. You off your meds is not best for you or baby. Of all the options lexapro is a better choice. Take care of yourself
