Copper IUD

I’m considering the copper IUD — it’s the only birth control I can use bc of other medications I take. I’m terrified of the amount of pain people report — passing out, throwing up…does anyone have their experience? I would love to get honest feedback…

I never had pain like that. For me it was just cramps like you would any other period. I would definitely get it. Because whatever pain you experience is gonna be way better than an accidental pregnancy that you didn’t want right away

I didn’t have pain like that either but my copper iud fell out twice. I had a non copper iud before as well and that one did not fall out and was in for almost 6 years.

Was that the merina coil? Amy good.

It was mirena! I stopped doing hormonal birth control because I’m mentally unwell aside from that lol. But I really had no complaints when I did have it

Yes I can’t have hormonal either as I get depressed 😭

I didn't think it was painful getting it inserted just a little uncomfortable. After I was crampy for a few days just like period cramps. I would definitely recommend it and get it again.

I have the mirena fitted just over 4 weeks ago and the pain was so bad at the beginning. I have had cramping on and off everyday since and bleeding. But apparently it will settle with in 3 months so sticking with it cause its more effective than the depo injection and I fell pregnant on that x

My periods were extremely heavy for a day or 2 every month whilst i had mine in. Probably a little more painful too but I can't remember now- the pain was certainly nothing extreme anyway. I took it out after a few years due to the heavy periods. Also them Putting it in amd taking it out wasn't too bad! Think it hurt more to take out

Mine has never been painful but my periods are a lot heavier so I just have to be prepared x
