Sharing with family?

Our friends know and we have a good support network but neither myself nor my partner have shared with our parents that we’re due to start our IVF journey in July. For me, it’s about managing their anticipation and their emotional investment if it doesn’t work out. Although very close, I don’t often share emotions with my parents! Just wondering- did you share or keep it private?

I did share with my parents and when we failed our first cycle they were disappointed but then we were successful on our second attempt and now baby is due in 2 weeks so everyone is happy.

We’ve shared it with my mum, and not my fiancé’s parents. But I have a very close relationship with my mum.

We shared it but I didn’t tell them which stage of the process I was at just to avoid all the questions etc x

Yes we did. My mum came with me to some appointments when my husband couldn’t

We’ve told all of our friends and family. It definitely has its pros and cons. It was tough telling everyone our first transfer wasn’t successful, but equally the support has been really helpful. Everyone is rooting for us and checking in, but also giving us space. It’s helped with things like my boyfriend not wanting to drink too. We are fortunate with our lovely support network
