Contraception

Are we all on contraception? I don’t want another baby anytime soon but contraception is making me bleed 24/7 and moody and hormonal. My doctor has recommended the coil but I’m scared if the insertion and side effects. Like I say I don’t want another just yet but I don’t like birth control. Any advice?

Not using anything hormonal at the moment. I refuse to go back on the pill this time, I hate it and every time I stop taking it to have a baby I get to see how much I prefer not being on it! Did consider the coil though, but hear a mixed bag re. side effects and I just don’t want to go through all that to find it doesn’t agree with me anyway. We’re waiting to decide if we want another or not- if we do, we’ll use other precautions until we’re ready, and if we’re done, husband will get the snip.

I was put on the mini pill and bled everyday for 3 months! The dr has prescribed me microgynon but I’ve not taken it yet. Just want my body to have a break! I think we will just use condoms for a while. Doesn’t work for everyone! X

I’m going to get the hormonal coil in soon 🫣 We don’t plan on having another and I don’t like the thought of missing a pill and falling pregnant unintentionally.

Also kudos to those who are finding the time/energy/drive for sex, please give me tips 😂🙈

I know they’re a massive pain the ass but could you use condoms instead of being on anything hormonal? I know they do a non hormonal coil so you could talk to your doctor about that, I had the hormonal coil fitted a few months back and it didn’t hurt at all in my opinion but not to scare you or anything but obviously worth thinking about, my body rejected it big time and was pushing it out on its own (gross 🤢) but I also got really really bad sickness and diarrhoea to the point I couldn’t leave the bathroom for days and had to wear adult nappies 😩 I was told it was a stomach bug by the doctors but I knew it was the coil so went to the walk in centre and got it taken out and woke up the next day completely fine bar weak from not being able to eat/drink anything x

@Amelia that sounds so awful 😔 our bodies have been through enough the past 12 months!

I had the coil twice before pregnancy & then had one fitted 12 weeks pp. It doesn’t hurt at all & takes seconds to be fitted. If it does give you any side effects it can be removed & your body returns to normal straight away unlike other contraceptives which can take a while.

I would bleed non stop on the mini pill, and it was a MASSIVE bleeding. I stopped and then changed to the combined pill and touch wood no bleeding and no issues so far x

I’m on the implant, been on it about 7 weeks now I’d say, it’s driving me mad though! I went on it again because I rated it first time, but this time it’s itchy in my arm and I’m already on my second period for this month and periods are longer than normal. Waiting to see if it dies down, otherwise I’ll be having it taken out
