I'm almost 34 weeks & started on Thursday. I spoke with my midwife about it & she said that officially they say 37 weeks but if it was going to induce Labour, then why don't they do that instead of medication. I managed to get 0.2ml on Thursday & 0.8 yesterday!

@Danai thank you! I was a bit disheartened on Thursday tbh but happy with what I've been getting. Just got .7ml there too! I alternate after a few drops and it seems to work better that way rather than focusing on 1 at a time!

Do I need to harvest colostrum if planning on breastfeeding? Midwife hasn’t mentioned anything and this is the first time I’ve seen that this is a thing. TIA ☺️
I’m 37 weeks and tried for the first time today. Felt really disheartened when I didn’t get anything apart from the smallest clear liquid which didn’t even amount to a teardrop but I will keep trying
Yes, I'm 37 weeks and got almost 1ml today, I've been just massaging twice a day for a few days which seemed to increase the amount and then collected today 😊
I started on Thursday and have got a bit more each day but not much! 0.2ml then 0.3ml and today 0.4ml

I tired for the first time this evening at almost 37 weeks and got the tiniest drop and wasn’t able to collect, found it a bit painful aswell!

@Danni I breastfed my last baby and I didn’t do this last time and it isn’t needed. When baby is born ur body will start producing the milk and it will be the colostrum for the first few days till your milk comes in. My midwife said it’s just handy to do to take to hospital incase your baby isn’t feeding or latching well, u can use what you’ve harvested to give them a taste and then it normally gets them wanting to feed. Dont feel like you have to do this to be able to breastfeed, so don’t stress if you do try and can’t get anything X
I really want to! I’m 36 weeks. Does anyone have advice on getting it started? I’ve had nothing yet and just assumed I’d notice when my boobies started producing it
@Hannah my advise is to have a warm shower or bath, massage the breats and then try, but don't force it. Make sure you're comfortable and relaxed 😌 First 2 times I got just a few drops, 3rd and every time after (I'm currently day 5) I'm getting about 3mls combined. It's a lot easier, for me personally, to collect it in a sterile cup and then syringe it out that way than directly from the breast x
I've managed to get 4 syringes full from the left side but my right is not having any of it 😖 any idea how to get both sides working lol?
