The implant

Anyone else not getting on with the implant? I've had it for a year now and it's made my periods so irregular! I was on Desogestrel while breast feeding and on the waiting list for the implant but had no periods which was lovely! They're now super light and can last up to 2 weeks. I'll either be on for two weeks and off for 2 weeks and back on again for 2 weeks for a couple of months. Mot have one for a while and either go back to that or have a normal period that lasts 7-9 days nothing for 2 days and then have a light period for a week or more! Is this normal or would it be worth changing birth control? I was told the implant was the most effective so not sure what to do!

It took me about 6 months to settle so maybe it's not the best for you?

I really struggled with it. Had nothing for a year and then it was all over the shop from then on. Nothing worse than coming on halfway through a workout at the gym 😔I asked to come off it after a year but due to COVID was on it for another 2 years 🥺. I found it flattened my moods, gave my brain fog and killed sex drive too. Really tough. I preferred the pill but wasn't allowed back in it due to migraines. I came off and sorted out my hormones for 18 months before getting pregnant x

I bled constantly on the implant for the whole 3yrs I had it in - sometimes just spotting, sometimes heavier and I'd have the very odd day with no bleeding but I ended up wearing pads all the time anyway just in case as the bleeding was so erratic I could never tell when it would start. I ended up having the pill prescribed on top of the implant which stopped the bleeding but kind of defeats the point of having a contraceptive you can just forget about!
