Honour name

My dad would like me to consider his dads name, Albert. I was dead against this name to begin with as nothing about it appeals to me. I do however like the nickname Bertie. Well fast forward to last week and i hear a mother calling for her toddler son and lo and behold his name is Albert! He wore it soooo well too. Turned fusty dusty Albert cool and modern lol. Now im back to seriously considering it. What do u think??

vintage names are so popular at the moment and Albert perfectly fits that trend - while alsocpaying tribute your grandfather. i think Albert could suit a toddler, and even if you didn't think it suit your son as a baby, you could go with Bertie, Artie/Art or Albie as a nickname while he's little - so plenty of options! 💙

You can always use it as a middle name too!

It’s my sons middle name, his dad is called berti but it’s not short for Albert. I think it’s cute and much nicer than the other similar old man names

As long as you and husband like it, then use it. I’d personally stick with Albert though then your son will be able to decide on which variant/nickname he wants to use as grows. I have a Sylvia and Arthur. Named after his grandmothers and my grandfathers. I call them Sylvie and Artie. Old fashioned names are coming back round.

@Jess yeah i really dislike albie. Sooooo many boys are called albie now its getting old

Yeah it’s definitely getting much more popular and I’m not fan. Bertie is cute and there’s not a huge amount (that I know of) or even Bert when he’s a little old man😂

We did older first names and modern middle names with both of our children. Isaac Ryan and Amelia Sky. We've always said if they want to go by their middle names we'd have no problem with it.
