Potential cmpa

So my baby got put on aptamil pepti 1 at around 8 weeks to trial it, it did make a massive difference, but there’s been no follow up from it, the doctors been prescribing it but we’ve not had any like tests or dietician to make sure he definitely has it or if it’s something else.. like what happens when it comes to weaning, do I try reintroducing regular formula? Completely lost with it all😅

I would try and speak to gp again. We were put on neocate then moved back a step to aptamil pepti 1 and its made a difference, but have regular weight checks and check ins. To move milks before we did the milk challenge where you slowly introduce a new milk 1 scoop at a time (can find information on NHS websites). We are hoping to do that to regular milk before weaning or else will have to do milk ladder when on foods but that seems more difficult!

I know somebody that’s had this same situation. GP’s arent great with it. I paid for a dietician You’ll need to re challenge so starting with one bottle of normal formula a day (first thing in the morning). As soon as you notice the symptoms you can straight away stop, some baby’s it shows after that bottle sometimes it takes time. In relation to weaning it’s called the milk ladder , they really should have information on this for you because it’s about introducing small amount of things like soya for three days etc. if you ask them they should be able to provide it xx

Thanks girls, I think I might start trying reintroducing slowly see how he gets on, I got told nothing, i mentioned at his 8 week check up how he had been (screaming in pain constant, hated feeding, mucusy poo with blood spots, rashes etc) and the gp just said see how he does with aptamil pepti and that’s been that😅

So typical 🙄 I can send you the milk ladder if you’d like x

The GP should have referred you to a dietitian so they can formally diagnose it. I would keep on at them about it.

@Laura they didn’t with us either I had to push for a peads referral because he was refusing to feed and we had dry nappies. In the end I ended up just paying for a private one. The peadatriciton said it can be managed by the GP but I think they have such lack of knowledge! Also when you’re referred in my area it’s group sessions with baby’s who have CMPA/intolerances so you don’t even get your own dietitian as such xx
