To wax or not to wax?

I am a FTM, 39+2, I currently have a Brazilian wax scheduled for tomorrow, I’ve only ever had 2 other Brazilian wax and 3 bikini waxes. I find them quite painful at the best of the times but was hoping to be nice and cleaned up down there before my labour. I know it’s a personal choice, But at this point, should I even care? Will anyone care? I’ve read it will hurt me this close to labour with the labia potentially being swollen. Will it? Will it growing back be yet another pain while healing? Please give me your opinions!

No one cares. More wounds down there at this point are a bad idea. Let your body focus on all of the other healing it's going to need to do.

I didn't wax and no one cared. I would skip it

That’s the last thing to worry about, and I wax and I did 3 natural child births ….. after it’s all said and done…. Save the money cause it won’t matter. More importantly, I would get the perineal massage so that you don’t need stitching and can stay tight and heal great

During my pregnancies I didn't care how hairy I got. The OBGYN team has seen it all and they say it's not a good idea to wax while pregnant anyway. I'd skip it

@Sarah thank you for the honest advice. I appreciate it. I had my third perineal massage appointment today so I am in that 😊

Ide wait till like 6 weeks post partum. That sounds miserable. Those docs have seen horrific things, yhey will not care at all lol

Put that man to work and tell him to shave it down lol but who really cares lol

I just got waxed last week with hard wax (32 weeks). Wasn't too bad but I sugared maybe 1.5 ish months ago. Sugaring was more painful as waxing is more one and done where sugaring they sometimes go over the area a few times. I plan on getting waxed again at probably about 38 ishweeks. For me personally it makes me feel cleaner and it's easier to wipe back there ... it's a comfort thing for me

I was an esthetician prior to becoming a Mom, had plenty of women schedule a waxing before delivery and yes, unless you have been a regular, it is more painful due to the extra blood/swelling. However, the pain might help you figure out some coping skills prior to labor 🤪 lol Honestly though, labor & delivery staff do not care about hair! So do whatever you feel most comfortable with

As someone who usually doesn't find waxing that painful, let me tell you, you do *not* want to be doing this! My skin was incredibly sensitive by the end of pregnancy, and as painful as the wax itself was (very! Lots more blood = lots more pain!), it was the after for me. My skin was so red, burning and just absolute agony for multiple days. Save yourself the hassle!

@Jessica get waxed!!! It is one less thing to worry about whilst in labour and actually being cleaned up is for you and feeling good!!

girl. they do not care and if they do tell them to GTFO !

I was an loyal waxer before pregnancy, and after 2 trimester, it hurt like Sh!t!! Had to pause all waxing! I started Blindly (couldn't see over belly) using an intimate trimmer, but Im certain I looked a mess 😭

It hurts more when waxed during pregnancy. Hurts WAY more. I did shave down there but as soon as I could Pp I got laser done so I don’t have to worry about it. I say shave instead. Hubby shaved for me first pregnancy a couple days before labour, as much as he could 😂 I do it for me I know midwives “don’t care”

Nooo the last thing you need is more pain down there. During labour I had a room full of doctors looking when they pressed the panic button. So after a while I did not give a toss what was down there

No one will care how she looks, just what's coming out of her 😅 I've never had a wax so can't say for swollen/sore bits or how long it lasts. I would at least keep her trimmed though because the lochia lasts a while and can get a bit matted and gross. Plus you won't be able to shave for 6w after.

Don’t do it ! It’s quite common to tear during child birth and require stitches. Add to this any irritation down there would be a recipe for infection !!

I had one done at 39 weeks and it was so fucking horribly painful and gave me a terrible horrible rash I could barely walk it was red raw 😭 I also had it only done a couple times. I would advise against it

@Agnes I’m so sorry to hear that. Thank you for letting me know!
