Aisling- (in the US)

I know that Aisling is a very popular name in Ireland- what are your thoughts on using it for a baby girl in the states? Do you think people would pronounce it the right way?

Unfortunately I don't think most people would pronounce it the right way at all. I think most people here would say something along the lines of "Ayes ling". Doesn't mean you shouldn't use it just given you my opinion. People can't even say my name right let alone spell it.

I’m in the U.S. and would pronounce it Eye-Ling. It’s pretty and not too popular, I like it

I’d imagine most Americans would pronounce it as Eye-Ling because the beginning is so similar to “aisle”

Im in the US & I would pronounce it as Ays-ling

I love that people are wanting to use/are using the irish spelling of irish names. Americans will 99.9% of the time completely butcher the pronouciation though. But the only way it becomes natural to know how these names are pronounced is for people to use them and educate others on names from other countries

I would have said Ayes ling 🤷‍♀️

I went to school with a girl with this name but it was always pronounced “ Ayes-ling” by people.

If you like it go for it, people will learn how to pronounce it. I have an Irish name and have lived out of Ireland most of my love and never wished my name was easy to pronounce

It’s pretty!
