Perimenopause

Has anyone started this journey yet? My mom died about 10 years ago, and I don't have any older sisters or cousins or anything to ask questions. I started occasionally skipping periods 3 years ago, and a couple weeks ago started itching...everywhere...tiktok said it's a common menopause symptom. Looking for suggestions. I'm on day 3 of a supplement that's supposed to help, and have been eating soy, which is also supposed to help. I also made a homemade lotion last night which is half shea butter and half coconut oil. Looking for any other ideas or suggestions.

I was perimenopausal before I fell pregnant with my daughter. My periods are still regular but some are light and some are ridiculously heavy. I would suggest seeing a doctor. The earlier you start HRT the better if you want it. I am itchy too. Use a body scrub to slough as much dead skin as possible and then moisturise as soon as you get out the shower/bath, no scented lotions. Use cream rather than oil as it can block your pores and make you feel even more itchy

Thanks!

Ann, that sounds like my periods as well. I’m 42. I’ve also been waking up super sweaty here & there. I am so super itchy but didn’t realize that is part of it!

I started peri menopause prior to having my son. I didn’t get itchy. My main annoying symptom was hot flushes and anxiety. I went on HRT for a while and it was really helpful.

Check out ‘women of a certain stage’ - Lauren Chiren is amazing and runs a free webinar series on perimenopause - think internationals can join them but they’re on U.K. time. They’re powerful and so insightful.

Is that a book? I'll look for it! Thank you!

@Dana no sorry, it’s her website. She’ll have a link to her FB page too and she’s also super proactive on LinkedIn x

I just figured that out. Lol Thanks again!
