Propranolol

My little one has been started on oral solution Propranolol for strawberry birthmarks. Just looking to see if anyone has experience with it? Did it work? How did your LO take to it? Just something to put my mind at ease 😂

I know it can be used for birthmarks with babies as it makes the blood vessels constrict and slows/reduces the blood flow into the birthmark to make it softer & reduce the colour. We’ve had a few little ones on it at the nursery from a few months old. I personally used to take it for anxiety and migraines 😂 xx

@incognito How did you get prescribed the propranolol? Did you seek help or were you advised? My little girl has a port wine birthmark that covers the top of her whole left foot and between her toes. It was checked when we were in the hospital by a paediatrician when she was first born and just told to keep an eye on it. Recently I have noticed that it is now spreading to the underneath her foot as she’s growing. Just wondering if I should go to the doctors and have a conversation about propranolol for her. I had no idea there was a medication to help prevent them x

@Bec I’m not the poster but I went to the Drs about my daughters on her head and they said that because it doesn’t affect anything they wouldn’t do anything about it but if it was somewhere like her hands or feet they would so I would definitely give them a call xx

@Charlie thank you! She has her 16 week jabs next week so I’ll speak to the doctor then. My main worry is with it spreading to the underneath of her foot, it might affect her walking x
