Keeping name to ourselves until birth but want personalised items

We're not announcing the name of our boy until birth. It's not an unusual name by any means but I have a very judgemental family and I can't be bothered with them saying there opinion as I'm easily influenced. Having someone saying they don't like it or 'i know someone with that name I dont like' or 'reminds me of ...' so we decided to keep to ourselves. Has anyone else kept the name to themselves until birth but still bought personalised items? How did you go about it and what did you buy? I'm thinking the newborn hat with his name on or blanket for hospital x

We kept the names secret with our first but we didn't know what we were having so wouldn't have known which name it was going to be anyway 😅 We know it's a boy this time and will still keep the name secret, but I personally wouldn't buy named items in advance in case we change our mind on the name once he's born. I guess it depends how absolutely certain you are on the name. For context, my older brother's name was picked in advance, and two days after he was born my parents decided he suited a different name better, so they changed it... so I appreciate that impacts my thought process!

We have picked a name and are certain on it, but not buying anything personalised until she’s here. As mentioned above, I’ve also heard of people being absolutely sure on a name and then changing their mind once baby is here. I’m sure we won’t but I’m still gonna play it safe x

Okay. I was set on my daughter's name since I was 11 and luckily my partner loved it so stuck to it once she was born. This time having a boy we haven't even picked out any other names. We're pretty set on his one also. There were no others we liked together so pretty sure this name is set but il wait til he is born before thinking of any personalised x

I wouldn't get anything personalised but we are definitely not telling anyone the name we've chosen

We've had our daughters name picked 10 months before I fell pregnant. Now I'm 19 weeks and found out im having a girl our hearts are still set on her name. It's not a common name. We've bought a personalised blanket from cuddle company (think that's right) with her name on. If your set on a name then buy personalised items and just put them somewhere in your house where nobody will come across them x

We didn't tell anyone our daughters name until after she was born, or even the names we had shortlisted. They knew the gender and when she was due, we wanted to have something to ourselves. Plus, as someone above said, people will always have an opinion on a name and it can alter the way you look at it! We are having a boy this time, and although we haven't chosen a name yet, we also won't be telling anyone until he is here x
