2 of my choices were Sami and Morgan (means coral in Arabic) I ended up with names of the Prophets Soliman and Musa (Solomon and Moses) which are very Jewish in origin but my husband liked them because they were kings (Soliman was the son of King Dawood (David) who beat Goliath) who could talk to the jinn and animals alike. Moses was dubbed King of the Jews - I’m sure you know the story of Moses.
What name did you choose? Also, what was his reason for refusing the name? I think it's unfair when other people get involved and give their opinions. It's your child, and you have the right to choose. (Unless, of course, he had a valid reason for his refusal) Dawood, Musa, Idris,

Your niece might have daughters, or no children at all, or might not even get married. Name your child based on who he looks like on the day. We had a shortlist and did that xx

Sis he's your baby, not your father in laws. Please stand your ground. Take advice if its good but if there's no valid reason for your fil to speak against you then, please ignore and choose yourself
We named our boys Ayman and Ayyub. I like Sulaiman too which I also liked for my 2nd boy and it rhymes with Ayman. I wanted a pious, Prophets/Sahabahs name but also one that felt connected to my 1st son. Eventually chose Ayyub after a Prophet. Love Zakariya, Musa, Yaqub, Yusuf, Salahuddin too.

We were going with Zakaria and Gabriel if our twins had been boys... ended up all girls though 😂
Sorry but this may sound blunt, he’s your child not your FIL. Do what you like and don’t please others
@Aliyah yes but the problem is my husband now won’t name him what we initially chose For his dads sake So I currently have no more say 😢
Imagine your FIL gives a name you don’t like but you husband accepts it for his dads sake. Sometimes you gotta stand your ground with things. With both of my kids we choose the names and didn’t reveal it till they were born Alhamdulilah.

Sis please stand your ground. I informed my husband that I would name my 2nd child as he chose the 1st but we wouldn't have gone with it if I wasn't happy. I gave birth to my kids, not him. I don't understand how other men have the audacity to make these decisions

I choose my daughter name so was supposed to be his choice for his son but I ended up choosing zakariya , I gave him the opportunity of few names idris, yousef, zayn ..his family had there imput and said zakariya is a old name.. and was telling me different names I couldn't say which was big no and I carried him for 9 months and will look after him so was choice
