Certain BMI for IVF

Hello Does everywhere say you have to have a certain BMI to be eligible for NHS funded IVF? Iv got 5 pound to go until I can be listed and it’s so hard to get this last bit off. Also do you have to be a certain BMI for funded IVF?

My clinic was BMI 30 or under to be eligible. Overall I had to loose over a stone and a half. The last 5 pounds were HELL, all I can recommend is only weigh yourself on a Friday morning first thing cause you do all the hard work during the week and sometimes slip up on weekend. High protein meal, plenty of water n exercise for a least 1 hour 3/4 times a week ( that worked for me). Good luck with everything

My NHS funding agreement was also BMI of 30 or less though the only time anyone at the clinic ever weighed me was just before egg retrieval when I was bloated and slightly over anyway!

My bmi was 29 at the start, they told me to come back in 3months after I loose the weights which I did.

It depends on your local policy, each health board basically says their own funding rules. If you Google “*your location* ICB ivf policy” you should be able to find your health boards policy and it’ll say in there what their funding criteria is, including BMI. I do think most places ask for BMI below 30 for NHS funding. Some private clinics will allow a higher BMI x

My clinic is under 30 bmi too. I’ve lost 4.5 stone and still have 10lbs to go before I’m below 30. It’s so hard, I’m only losing 1/2lb a week at the moment, I’m exercising, cut out all the junk foods and stuff sting low carb, low fat and high protein. I had surgery 15 years ago that left me infertile so losing weight isn’t going to help me conceive. The whole bmi structure is complete bollocks and it shouldn’t be used, especially not for treatment like this. I could have a leg amputated tomorrow and my bmi would be perfect, it’s a stupid system!

Not where I went.
