Boy names middle name Michael

Hey everyone, I find out the sex of my baby in just over a week and I don't know if my mum was trying to guilt me/pressure me etc but here's the story. I have said for years that my grandads name would always be the middle name of I had a boy. I lost him when I was 15 and was so close to him. But apparently my dad has conveyed that he's quite hurt that neither me or my sister have indicated we would use his name...Michael. We have a brother called Michael. My mum also said very early on that she was shocked that I would be giving the baby, the dad's surname (we're not married but have been together nearly 11 years, own a house together etc) So now I feel like I need to be prepared to incorporate Michael into my baby's name if we find out we are having a boy! Has anyone got any suggestions? I'm more into traditional, strong British names if that helps atall!

Name the baby what you want! It’s your baby, your dad had his son named after him and now it’s your turn. My advice is don’t discuss names with people. Obviously baby’s dad isn’t included in that exclusion. When baby is born notify the family and friends with the announcement baby *insert name* was born with the details whoever doesn’t like can have their own baby and name it whatever they want.

You can always do two middle names if you want. But I agree with Rachel, name the baby what you want. Xx

We were thinking Sidney Michael, Sidney was my husband's granddad's name who died when his mum was pregnant with him, it was also my granddad's middle name. Michael is my husband's Dad's name and my Dad's middle name. But I agree with the others, call your baby what you want and you could always do 2 middle names.

Fully agree with Rachel, as soon as you start sharing baby names with people they tear them apart and make you question everything. Name them how you want to, you can never please everyone but this is you and your partners baby not anyone else's.

Tbh, I haven't got any possibles for boys names. I've got a girls name that I pretty much decided the day after I found out but boys names have been hard! Xxx

Nope, you want your grandads name, you have it. You're the one carrying the child for 9 months, name him or her whatever you and your partner want. Don't feel pressured to name them to please another person as you may regret it. Like you said, he's named your brother after himself and your sister hasnt incorporatedit, so why should you? I told people our baby names and got some opinions, (are you shortening that name? Are you sure that's the name? I dont like the name) I just shrugged and went, my child, I'm carrying him/her, that's the names we're having. When he was born, no one battered an eyelid and they'd been told the name months in advance, then said they liked the name etc, just do you. You'll tire yourself out meeting everyone's needs ❤️

Name him whatever you want to name him and honour your grandad if you want to. That’s a beautiful thing! Don’t let anyone tell you what to choose

Name baby after whoever you want. My boy is Elliott James after my grandad and has my partners surname, we’re the same situation, living together, 11 year relationship and not married!

Your baby, your choice! :) xx
