Cervical procedure

I had LLETZ done yesterday to remove abnormal cells from my cervix…I’m just wondering if anybody else has had this done and what their pregnancy was like, as my doctor told me that it can cause preterm labour if I was to have another one in the future (not planning anytime soon!) Also what were your side effects after?

I had one years ago and was pregnant this time. They sent me for a cervix scan at 14 and 22 weeks to check length. It was fine. They said they could put a stitch in to help that not happen. Luckily I didn't need it. I also did a lot of research on it. Seems they need to take a hell of a lot to cause the weakness.

@Hayley thanks Hayley! I’m in quite a bit of pain but I had to go under anaesthetic for it as I’m not so good with things like this! Did you have any side effects after? I have a bit of bleeding to be expected but I’m also struggling to go for a 💩 tmi I know!🤣🤦‍♀️ When did you give birth? Was it early? I don’t know how much they had to get rid of but I’m sure I’ll find out soon?

I had one in 2020 and they took quite a bit off apparently. I had extra checks at the start of pregnancy but the pregnancy was fine. The docs were shocked how quickly labour came on once it started, presumably cos less cervix to move out of the way of baby! But I guess that's a positive? 😂 Quick as in a few hours, not so quick we couldn't get to hospital!

Incognito - if you had anaesthetic that may be the issue re. 💩, depending on how long ago it was. Try peppermint tea and some chewing gum.

@Georgina did you find out how much they took off? I was out of it from the anaesthetic so I don’t know if they said they’d send a letter or not!! I had the procedure yesterday but keep feeling the urge but nothing happening…very annoying!🤣 Thankyou for your comment though!

I also had this done before I got pregnant, I had a scan on my cervix to make sure it wasn't too thin and luckily I had no issues but I was so scared when they said there's a risk of preterm labour. But I looked into it and there is things they can do/give you to prevent pee term labour if your cervix is thin xx

My baby was only 2 days early. I had a baby before the treatment she was born at 36 weeks fast labour. 2nd born after treatment at 39w 5d same length labour.
