Middle names

How many middle names is too much, I’m having my dad’s name as a middle name and initially we agreed on my partners grandpas name, now he is saying about his dad’s name too. I feel three middle names is just way too much and now I’m feeling anxious about it. Is he not happy enough that the baby gets his surname? 😴

My husband has no middle names at all - I have two. Our son got two as well - first middle name after their godfather and second middle name after their grandfather that unfortunately died before they had the chance to meet him.

I think 2 is plenty (unless your royal) gotta save some names for future children 😂

Two it’s okay but talk with him if you want a different one

I spoke with him and he is claiming he is hurt at not having both names of his Grampa and dad which I think is an unfair ask given the baby has his surname also. I told him we may as well add in all his family members name if that’s the case. I am one of three girls so my dads name has always been a definite x

Tell him he only gets to choose one, and then your next child gets the second name. One name each is very fair. Maybe explain that a child with a name too long creates issues on forms and documents (passport applications / flight tickets etc). Max 24 characters

This is our last baby, our little girl has my grans name (first name) his mums as a middle and then his surname. I really don’t feel I’m being unreasonable to him by not wanting my son to have an extra long name 🤣

I'd personally agree that two is enough. Is there any way you could maybe compromise by combining his dad and grandpa's names or think of an alternative name/nickname that could nod to them both in some way? Idk if that makes sense😂. It sounds like he feels guilty over the initial decision to use his grandpa's name and not his dad's

The two names are Lachlan and David.. both of which I’m not fans of but we always said Grampa’s would be in the middle name if we had a boy, his dad does a lot for us but my personal thought is his dad would be delighted with either name going in considering it’s his dad, i just don’t want the two lol. My dad’s is a definite but now he is choosing his dad’s name and trying to guilt trip on his grandpas but I’m not budging. My boy will not have 3 middle names lol.

Two is personally too many for me, but I feel like is still reasonable. Three is honestly kinda ridiculous no one is gonna remember all that and it will literally never get used. You guys can use the third name for a dog if you don’t want anymore kids lol.
