Yeah I was never really told not to. I just couldn’t really because of the drugs I was on. But I was never specifically told not to by doctors or insurance. I had to start driving 2 weeks pp because my husband went back to work and I had appointments and I didn’t just want to stay home

If your husband is home with you then I would just wait and go with him. If he’s at work then go out and drive. But driving is a pain. Going out by yourself is a pain. Getting baby in and out of the car by yourself is a pain so if you can go with your husband then do that and save your body. But if he’s working and can’t then sure go out but don’t go out too often or for too long because you need breaks. How many weeks or days postpartum are you

I’m 2 weeks but husband has gone back to work… was okay for the first couple weeks but now thinking onwards… got some appointments so I am thinking shall I schedule them for after he finishes work or on his days off😢…. My biggest fear is carrying the car seat and getting it in and out of the car😅

1 week PP 🤷🏻‍♀️

2 weeks! Was never specifically told & felt able to. I didn’t carry the car seat with baby in. Always carried baby separately in a sling wrap.

Yes I was driving at 2/3 weeks! I think, listen to your body. So I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I flew at 3 weeks PP and doc said usually people get signed off to drive at fly 3 weeks pp but they suggest 6 just to be extra safe. Obviously this is only if you are feeling good and safe to do so 🤍

I asked when I was discharged - they said no restrictions but I didnt drive till a 1 week + a day after my csection. It was hard carrying the car seat with babe in it so recommend getting help for that or just put him immediately into the stroller.

I started at 4 weeks pp. My insurance said as long as I could do an emergency stop safely, I could drive

Your not covered by your insurance if you have an accident xxx

I drove after 2 weeks!

Check with insurance and GP they both said from a Month was ok so I did that 😊 wouldnt want to risk an accident with a newborn and then not be insured don’t know why anybody else would either. I wasn’t directly told either but isn’t that a given knowing you’ve just had major abdominal surgery- I can’t believe how soon some have drove 🙈 x

I started 4 weeks Pp I made sure it was comfortable for me to drive first

I was told if I could stamp on a coke can I could drive I waited 4 weeks without newborn and 6 weeks with him as carrying the car seat. Go for walks instead around local area? X

I didn’t go anywhere with my baby by Myself for at least 2 months po

When I was discharged no one told me anything, I drove within a couple days! (I never took any pain meds)

@Mariessa wait really??

i did when i was 5 days pp. i had to take my baby to the lab. it was the worst time of my life🥹

I was told 6 weeks postpartum both times. I was maybe 4 weeks PP with my 1st (and it was just up the street). My 2nd, I didn’t drive until closer to 7-8 weeks PP. I just wasn’t comfortable. Especially carrying the car seat and a toddler. I was taking a Tylenol/advil combo. But was told not to drive because if I couldn’t stop, I was liable for any accidents that may have been caused. And because of major abdominal surgery, it wasn’t recommended. My c-section felt fine. But I did not.

Thank you all, I think I’ll take some journeys alone to see how I feel and then take it from there

I was just told it depends on my healing. Once I felt like I could slam on the brakes if I needed to, then it should be fine. I drove for the first time yesterday, just after 3 weeks postpartum.

You are not insured to drive before 6 weeks and you will still be healing internally so it’s really not advisable

Can your car seat go on to a stroller? That what I did I just put the car seat right on the stroller so I didn’t have to carry him very far. And he was a 10lb 6oz baby so he was heavy

I was told by so many people I wouldn't be covered by my insurance but I called my insurance and I most definitely was! I drove a week pp but only up the road from my house 😬 didn't drive long distances until 8 weeks cause I was too scared!
